` Carnival

Carnival starts on the first day of New Year and finishes on the Ash Wednesday . This name dates from Italian carne vale. The most popular carnivals are in Rio de Janerio, Venice, Canary Islands and Germany. In this time we go to the parties, dance , meet new people etc. In Shove Thursday we dress up as witches , vampires , princesses etc. In my country carnival is very funny and everyone has a lot of fun.

` Easter

Easter is the oldest and the most important Christian holiday. This holiday reveres Jesus Christ’s tribulation. Passion Week predates this episode. In Easter Friday we go to church for the Way of the Cross and we mention Jesus death In Easter Saturday we go to church with baskets in which there are ; Easter eggs, sausages, sweets, salt, pepper, bread etc . Later a lot of people go to the churchyard. Easter Sunday is the first day of Easter octave. We eat festive breakfast and later we go to our family for festive dinner. The next day is the so called “ śmingus – dyngus “ we pour water on each other . In this day I always have a lot of fun. I like Easter and this holiday is very important for me.

The black cat .

Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess who lived in a huge castle. Her name was Meggy .She was a very intelligent, smart girl, but she was greedy and conceited. She has always shouted on her servants. A lot of people were very unkind to her. All the time Meggy spent in his room and she examined herself in the mirror. Every day she said ; I’m the most beautiful, the best and the most intelligent princess in the world ! Her parents were very nice, clever rulers so nobody understood why she wasn’t similar to her parents. In the day of her birthday everybody was very excited. Her family gave her a lot of presents. There were clothes , jewellery etc. At the party there was an absolutely enormous birthday cake and there were about 300 people. Everybody had a lot of fun. In the end of celebration in the corner of the hall Meggy saw a big, black box. When she opened the box she saw a little black cat with big , blue eyes. The girl took this cat to the room. In her room , when she examined look at in the mirror the cat was sitting on her legs and he said with human voice ; If you give your fortune to beggars, You will marry a prince , have firends, and everybody will like you, but if you don’t do it, You will be ugly ,but You will be rich. She thought that it was only a bad dream, but it wasn’t.
The Princess didn’t know what she should do . Meggy loved her money , but she didn’t want to be ugly. Meggy has spoken with her mother about this. She decided to give her money to beggars and she told the cat about this. At that moment, this cat changed into beautiful prince and they lived happily ever after.

` Rice.

Rice:


Ingredients:
Carrots
Chicken breast
Corn
Curry
Peas
Salt
Pepper
Rice

Equipment:
two pots
A knife


How to make them:
1. Cut chicken breast,put in the pot and fry.
2. Cut carrots
3. Add carrots, peas, curry, corn, pepper
4. Fry it again.
5. In the second pot cook rice in water with salt.
6. Later drain rice.
7.Add rise to corn, peas, carrots etc and mix well.

Halloween !.

We celebrate Halloween on 31st October. A lot of people cut faces in the pumpkins and put candles inside. Kids are bobbing for apples, dressing up as monsters, vempires etc. In this holiday children go from door to door and say ‘ Trick or treat’. Then people often give sweets, but if people don’t give anything to children, they play a prank on them. Halloween came to Poland in 1990 but Polish children rarely celebrate this holiday. I like Halloween, because I have a lot of fun.

` My dream journey .

When I was young, I wanted to go to Egipt, because I have never been there. I wanted to visit pyramids etc, but now I think it is boring, and I want to go to Africa to Madagaskar. I would be able to ride on zebras and swim in the ocean. The journey to Madagaskar is my dream journey. First of all, I would go there by plane , the plane would be pink. When I arrive to Madagaskar I would build my home from hay, grass,twigs, leaves etc. My house would be very big. It would have two bedrooms, three bathrooms and two living rooms. After that I would catch a horse or zebra because I would like to ride on them. When I catch horse I would have to look around , because living in Africa would be dangerous. In the bushes, there would be tigers or lions. In the afternoon I would go fishing. In the evening I would light a fire and bake a fish. After that I would go to sleep. In the second day , before breakfast, I would go swimming and I would look for crocodiles . Next, I would sew clothes from grass. In the last day, I would make a boat from wood, and I would go home. ;]

` My Christmas <33

- How do you celebrate Christmas Eve/and New Year's Eve?

Firstly, on Christmas Eve I go to my grandmother and uncle for Christmas supper. Before we start eating the dishes we say a prayer and share a wafer. Later, we eat delicious prepared by my grandmother and we sometimes sing Christmas carols. Next , I get presents from Santa Claus ( parents) .About 8 pm. I go to my grandmother and grandfather. I meet my cousin, uncle and aunty there.We share a wafer and we get presents again.
About 12 pm. my parents and sister go home, but I and my cousin stay for the night.
On New Year’s Eve I usually stay for the night in my friend’s house. We sing, dance, listen to music, watch TV and we don’t sleep ;]

-Who usually buys you presents? Why?
My parents, uncles, grandparents and my sister buy presents for me, but, sometimes, I buy presents for my parents and sister. I have never thought why everybody gives presents on Christmas Eve. Maybe, because of our tradition.
Who do you usually give presents to? Why?
My grandfather usually gives presents. He dresses as Santa Claus, because my sister believes in Santa Claus ;]

-What kind of presents do you like getting?
I like getting every kind of presents. I like getting clothes, perfumes, games, jewellery, but I don’t like getting money for Christmas.

-Do you believe in Santa Claus?
Yes, of course. Santa Claus comes to my house through the chimney every Christmas and he gives me presents. :P

-Do you attend church during Christmas?
Yes, I do. Every Christmas I want to go to Christmas Midnight Mass, but every Christmas night I’m tired and I don’t go there.

-How do you say "Santa Claus" in your country?
We say: Święty Mikołaj .;]

-When do you dress Christmas tree? Is it fake or real? Why?
I dress my Christmas tree about week before Christmas. I have two Christmas trees, there is one in a sitting room and the other one in my own room. Both Christmas trees are fake. I have never had a real Christmas tree. Why ? I don’t know.

-Who does it?
Me, my mum, and my sister dress Christmas tree in a sittinfg room, but only Me and my sister dress Christmas tree in my own room.

-Do you sing any Christmas carols?
I sometimes sing Christmas carols, but mostly I listen to Christmas carols because I don’t have a beautiful voice. ;]

-How do you celebrate Christmas Eve at school, among your friends and teachers?
We have Christmas Eve at school on the last Friday before Christmas. Earlier, we draw lots and we buy presents to each other. Selected persons buy a lot
of drinks,sweets,crisps, fruit. We share a wafer, sing Christmas carols etc. Next we give presents. Lastly we clean the classroom.
